Participants buy silk scarves at retail price ($150). If they participate in the Scarf Swap they receive a ridiculously large rebate ($100).
After the fair buyers will be assigned a different scarf and a participant they do not know. To get the rebate they must meet with that person for at least half an hour, trade scarves, report the conversation to the artist, and be photographed with them and the scarves.
